The Department of Commerce is started in 1951 and commenced PG Programme in Commerce in 1961. The department was elevated into a Research Centre in 1996.The teachers of the department commonly use ICT based method of teaching with the help of the commerce computer lab and the other electronic devices like LCD projector Visualiser etc.The faculty of the department is very active in research publications, paper presentations and participation in seminars/workshops inaddition to the usual teaching and learning process. There is a research form of research scholars comprising of UGC JRFs and teacher fellows. The results of the department are usually the best in the university throughout the years. Moreover 24 PG students of the department have qualified UGC/JRF/NET since 2008 of these six of them are currently M.Com. students. The department has a base of prominent Alumni and the Alumni association is vibrant and proactive. The department has best practices of participating students in social activities like visits to poor homes and engaging in various activities.
